With this truly exceptional programme, the Russian State Ballet wishes to surprise its spectators. This performance is like no other, presenting the choreographies of the greatest ballet masters of the past two centuries, incorporating fragments of the most important ballets, and showing beautiful replicas of original costumes.

Gordeev researched for many months to recover old scenes, wanting to have them performed as close as possible to their original choreographies. He working intensively with retired dancers who, as witnesses of history, reviewed and scrutinized his choreography.

He often lacked detailed instructions; therefore dances and costumes were painstakingly reconstructed using old photographs. The result is a very special and exclusive programme, performed world wide only by the Russian State Ballet. It is a token of appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the Ensemble for their friends and faithful audiences, who often expressed their desire to see certain outstanding gems of classical ballet’s history resumed. These are now performed side by side, on the same stage, with new and modern works of similar impact in ballet, such as Gordeev’s own choreography "Karabas Theatre".
